Hyla cinerea

Frogs are extraordinary creatures, in many ways. Some of them live ashore, or in trees, and othere live amphibious. However, they always need water to reproduce. Hanneke has always been fascinated by these special animals. One of the most beautiful species is the green tree frog, Hyla Cinerea in Latin. Hanneke 'signs' her artwork with a footprint of this special frog.

Hanneke's work resembles the special properties of the frog.

A young frog lives through a number of transformations, from tadpole or polliwog without legs, breathing through gills to an adult frog with legs, breathing through lungs. This transformation is resembled in the creation of tensefull, exiting shapes out of an amorphous lumb of clay.

Frogs' movements are fascinating ashore as well in the water. This returns in the expression of movement that is catched in Hanneke's artwork.

Now she made her job out of the creation of sculptures and objects it was a natural move to name her workshop after this wonderful frog. So, it's called: Ceramic Workshop Hyla Cinerea!
